Sure, if you throw enough computing power at a problem, maybe you can solve it.

But how much potable water will the data centers use? And how many electric generation plants is the utility going to have to build to satisfy the insatiable demands—plants that the regular utility customers now have to pay for?

I work for a SaaS company and the "Find ways to use AI" mantra is in heavy rotation. IMHO, much of this technology is a way to save people from ever having to learn or do anything.

Interesting note Tom. And thought provoking. There are a few herd mentality challenges. The SaaS world are largely aimlessly wading in here as valuations are crazy and some purchases in the same space. No real justification for it.

Dario Amodei said at Davos that they should be slower and more considered. More deliberate and useful in their applications of these technologies but the matter is now geopolitical.

There has been so much defence budget increases as a result as if to justify all of this. Veiled as what? It seems pointless if this is the best of what we can produce.

Finally, we are feeding the systems more and more hourly. The chaos is being felt a little and leaned to a degree. 200m+ users of ChatGPT for health advice! What will become of education and the quest for knowledge!
